COVID-19 Vaccine for People Experiencing Homelessness
Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless is working diligently to make the COVID-19 vaccine available for people experiencing homelessness.
The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective. It has been scientifically researched, cannot give you COVID-19, and does not affect your DNA. The after-effects, such as pain and soreness on the arm where you got the shot, headache, achy body, tiredness, fever, or chills, are normal signs that your body is building protection against the virus.
Shelter residents are not required to get the vaccine to stay at shelters. Residents will have the opportunity to talk about the vaccine with staff and providers before they make a decision.
As more of us are vaccinated, we strengthen our ability, as a community, to respond to COVID-19, turn the curve and end this pandemic.
Access to the vaccine is changing day-to-day, so we urge you to stay updated with vaccine eligibility and accessibility through a variety of methods. Visit East Bay Getting To Zero to get up-to-date COVID-19 vaccine information.
