Community Consumer Advisory Board

ACHCH's Community Consumer Advisory Board (CCAB) meets monthly and helps to maintain a strong patient voice within ACHCH. All members of the CCAB have received services from ACHCH and have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives. June 2025:  CCAB co-sponsors Celebration of Strength and Resilience of People Experiencing Homelessness in Berkeley

April 2025: Statement of Principles on Measure W: CCAB leads countywide advocacy with statement of principles for use of county Measure W, plans advocacy campaign.

March 2025:  Review of Safer Ground Evaluation:  CCAB carried out review of RTI evaluation of Operation Safer Ground program, Alameda County’s COVID hotel system.

February 2025:  Fremont Anti-Homeless Organizing:  CCAB members among many turning out and speaking out against City of Fremont’s measure to criminalize homeless people and providers.

October 2024: One Health / Pet Car regular event:  Homeless pet events will happen every month in Oakland with support of CCAB members.

October 2024 Homeless Sweeps In response to increasing intensity of city-led sweeps of homeless encampments in Alameda County, ACHCH Commission members sent a letter to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors on October 7, 2024. Read the full letter here.

June 2024:  Summer Solstice Celebration:  CCAB co-sponsors Celebration of Strength and Resilience of People Experiencing Homelessness in Livermore

March 2024:  Unhoused Pet Care / One Health effort: CCAB members participate in initiation of unhoused pet care event collaborative.

February 2024: Alameda Wellness Campus
ACHCH CCAB celebrated groundbreaking of Alameda Wellness Campus, a medical respite and permanent housing project for elders experiencing homelessness which the CCAB has been championing and supporting for five years.

CCAB provided input and support to the ACHCH 2024-2026 strategic planning process.

July 2023: Extreme Weather Planning for Unsheltered Persons
CCAB members released recommendations for planning and responding to extreme weather events affecting people experiencing homelessness.

May 2022: Vaccine Ambassadors
Three people, with lived experience of homelessness (including CCAB members), supported the NHCHC/ACHCH Vaccine Ambassador program to increase COVID-19 vaccination response among people experiencing homelessness.

March 2022: Alameda County Home Together Plan 2026
CCAB members provided valuable feedback for the Alameda County Five Year Plan to End Homelessness in Alameda County.

February 2022: Point-In-Time Count 
ACHCH CCAB members participated in the county-wide homeless census.

September 2021: Climate Change Work Group
ACHCH CCAB members sponsored Homeless Climate Change Focus Group and provided recommendations to the County CAP Workplan.

CCAB member continued to provide focused support to this project.

CCAB members led countywide “Exercise your Right to Vote 2020” Voter Education including voter registration, education, and information.

CCAB members supported action around creation of isolation & quarantine hotels and formed part of community partnerships in COVID-19 response.

ACHCH CCAB members began Health Literacy work and evaluation of ACHCH program materials.

January 2019: ACHCH CCAB members deeply involved in the initiation of the AHS Co-Applicant Board (CAB).

February - October 2019: CCAB members were involved with the Alameda County Unhoused Committee for Census.

ACHCH CCAB members participated in the county-wide homeless census faciliated by EveryOne Home.

2019-2022 ACHCH Strategic Plan
CCAB members were involved with the development of the ACHCH 2019-2022 Strategic Plan.

September 2019: NCHCH Medication Assisted Treatment and Recovery Symposium
NHCHC members participated in the NHCHC MAT Training Summit to help increase MAT services in the ACHCH program.

October 23, 2018:  ACHCH CCAB representation in UN Rapporteur Report on Informal Settlements
ACHCH CCAB members participated in and spoke at a news conference for the release of the United Nations Rapporteur on Informal Settlements report which highlighted Bay Area encampments as examples of worldwide housing human rights violations and emphasized the strength of people asserting their human rights against a wave of criminalization. CCAB members read the Encampment Letter and shared the use of the Martin V. Boise decision as an avenue towards decriminalizing homelessness.   

October 22, 2018:  ACHCH CCAB Housing and Homelessness Election Forum
The ACHCH CCAB, along with the League of Women Voters, sponsored a discussion and forum on ballot issues of importance to people experiencing homelessness on Monday October 22nd from 11:30am-1:00pm at the ACHCH Offices at 1404 Franklin Street, 2nd Floor, Oakland.  For more information click here.  Information on voting rights for people experiencing homelessness click here.

September 2018:  ACHCH CCAB co-sponsors Homeless Voter Registration Drive Tuesday September 25, 2018

We are seeking volunteers to join us in the field to engage and empower homeless residents to register and vote in the November 6th election. Volunteer for a 2-hour time slot on Tuesday, September 25th to outreach to shelters, centers, meal sites, and encampments. Volunteers will also be provided with a 1-hour training before going out into the field. June 2018:  ACHCH CCAB sponsors 2018 Summer Solstice Celebration of the Strengths and Resiliency of People Experiencing Homelessness
On June 21, 2018, the ACHCH CCAB along with staff of the ACHCH Program and Lifelong Trust Health Center, celebrated the strengths and successes of people who are overcoming incredible barriers to gain housing, create community, and support our common mission of ending homelessness. This event honored six local heroes, featured lunch, music, and fellowship.  For more information about the heroes and details, click here.

June 2018:  ACHCH CCAB/ ACHCH Commission Open Letter to County Leadership
CCAB members, along with the ACHCH Commission, drafted and signed a letter to County leadership with suggestions and direction for providing leadership and adequate health and safety services for unsheltered people in Alameda County. View letter here.

March 25-28, 2018:  ACHCH CCAB Sponsors All-In Listening Sessions in Alameda County
The ACHCH CCAB carried out three listening sessions as part of the Alameda County All-In Initiative to bring people experiencing homelessness, and local community allies, together to describe their experiences, and provide ideas to improve the health and lives of people experiencing homelessness. July 24, 2017:  ACHCH CCAB Open Letter About Encampments in Alameda County
An open letter written by the ACHCH CCAB to the representatives of Alameda County regarding the housing crisis and their recommendations on how to work with people experiencing homelessness and local community allies in Alameda County. View letter here.

​July 18, 2017:  ACHCH CCAB Sponsors Focus Group for Homeless Bottle and Can Recyclers
A focus group carried out by the ACHCH CCAB at the request of Alameda County Supervisor Richard Valle, to discuss their work, health, and lives in relation to efforts to reform bottle recycling laws on a state level. 

December 2016:  ACHCH CCAB Carries out All-In Listening Sessions
During the week of December 5th, the ACHCH CCAB carried out three listening sessions as part of the Alameda County All-In Initiative. A total of 46 people experiencing street homelessness participated at three different listening sessions in Hayward and Oakland. The ACHCH CCAB members were impressed and encouraged by the courage and strength of the participants, and pleased by their willingness to speak out. View the informational poster of the event.
